  1. Re: Floyd stuff on Ask Slashdot: What Music do you Code By? · · Score: 1

Yeah, Amused to Death is a great album.

Personally, I listen to all sorts of stuff while I'm coding; I used to listen to a lot of metal -- Metallica, Stabbing Westward, etc -- but these days I'm listening to this band called AfroCelt a lot -- it's a cool mixture of Irish music, African music, and techno.

Um...perhaps I may be missing something here, but why the hell would I want to browse the web on a screen the size of a postage stamp?

Yeah, the english is basically right -- but you might want to say "primates" or "hominids" instead of "apes" -- but there's no real difference.'

  4. Re:Linux is easy, you are just being difficult. on Windows Domination May End Next Year · · Score: 1

    You're joking, right?

Linux is easy? I beg to differ, dude. As somebody who has worked with Windows for several years, and is fairly knowledgeable about it, I can't think of one single instance in which Windows failed to detect my mouse.

A while ago I tried Linux with three different mice, all from different manufacturers. XF86Setup couldn't get any of them to work correctly, while Windows handled them all fine.

Linux is getting easier to use -- KDE and GNOME are huge improvements -- but it's still nowhere near even Windows 3.1 in terms of neophyte usability.

  5. Re:Defending Derelict: Re:Dude, this kicks ass... on Townshend to Complete "Lifehouse" · · Score: 1

Yeah, I actually liked the Iron Man a lot -- it followed the book pretty well, and was generally well-written. I was surprised to see a preview for a cartoon version of The Iron Man, then disappointed when I found that it was based on the book, not the musical.

You're right about Physchoderelict -- there are certainly some great tracks on there, but the play was just so ludicrous and stilted that it really ruined it for me.

And I kind of liked Flame.

  6. Dude, this kicks ass... on Townshend to Complete "Lifehouse" · · Score: 1
I've been waiting for this since I first got into the Who, like 4 years ago. I'm 16, so I can't say that I grew up with them or anything, but god they kicked ass.

I just hope it won't be like Psychoderelict -- I like Townshend's stuff mostly, but that album just plain sucked. His description of Lifehouse as a play with songs indicates that that's what he's heading towards -- I just hope he does it better this time.

    I can't wait!
