This war on napster is a little pointless now that everyone has the required tools to make MP3s. Napster is IMO one of the worst places to get MP3s. The quality usually isn't that great and it's very hard to find complete albums. The local library on the other hand has just about any song that you could ever want and you are free to rip it at the bit rate of your choice. Before mP3s came along I used to tape all kinds of CDS from the library. Only thing that's different now is the format. I think you would find that most peiple that are downloading/ripping MP3s today wouldn't have payed for the CDs before MP3s were around. They more than likely would have just taped it from a friend/library. So let the record companies have their war with napster, it won't change much in the end.
I couldn't agree more. I am currently running a P200MMX system and I don't really want for speed. Kernels compile fast enough, browsing is snappy, and mp3s encode and play in real time. I guess it does help that I refuse to use any kind of GUI; how many copies of lynx could you run with 64M of ram? ON the AMD VS Intel topic: I have already been bitten once by the K6 trying to save money and have never had a problem with any Intel CPUs.
I am currently running on a 386SX25 that gets a grand total of 3.74 bogomips. Surprisingly it works pretty well for day to day stuff but takes almost 5 hours to compile a kernel.
If you want to use voice over you need at least an iPhone 3GS or later.
