  1. The 102nd dumbest moment goes to Business 2.0 on 101 Dumbest Moments In Business · · Score: 1

And the 102nd dumbest moment goes to Business 2.0 for trying to capitalize on the Craig Mundie anti-GPL comment controversy by writing a hatchet article which compares the situation to what is going on in the Lego Mindstorms (tm) community.

  3. So what about posts taken out of context? on Deja Linking Ads Within Usenet Posts? · · Score: 1

I'm waiting for the day when there's a post from somebody talking about Linux on the desktop and Deja sticks in a link to furniture at Office Depot.

  4. Sprint to join Microsoft in Canada on U.S. DOJ Moves To Block MCI/Sprint Merger · · Score: 1

With this latest Justice Department move, I'm guessing that we'll soon hear rumors that Sprint is receiving offers to move to British Columbia :-)

  6. Even JFK Jr.'s perceptions have been distorted on Feature: Technology, Media and Grief · · Score: 3

Heard on the radio yesterday that
JFK Jr. had said that he didn't know if he actually remembered his time in the white house as a small child or only thought he remembered because he had seen and heard so much about it.

  7. I think we should be safe... on New Heavy Ion Collider could "destroy the earth" · · Score: 1

I think we should be safe as long as nobody discovers a switch on the accelerator labeled "magic" & "more magic", decides it's a silly joke, and flips the switch... :-)

  8. another less significant event widely disseminated on The Power Of Deep Computing · · Score: 1

was Deep Blue beating Kasparov. Kasparov psyched himself out and played poorly. IBM seemed to know this as well as they immediately retired Deep Blue after the match in order to do stuff like weather computations (you have to give them credit for quitting while they're ahead). I wouldn't call this a significant event for AI but rather a REALLY bad day for Kasparov.
