  1. Stormix what happened to good old fashion tarballs on Review of Corel Linux 1.1.2 · · Score: 1

Is Stormix available in any other format that ISO images?

To the uninitated an ISO image is meaningless, and it doesn't stand to reason why (other than to make the distro inaccessible) one would pick ISO images as the primary format.

Nor does it appear as though they've put enough time or effort into attempting to explain how to burn a CD using this imagine, assuming the user has a CD burner...

Why do people still buy newspapers when there's a plethora available online. Why do people still buy books?
I believe there's still this generation/or perhaps just a majority of users who grew up learning that the cutting edge means getting paper cuts from "information technologies".

I don't believe people see computers as information appliances, or toaster's with brains. The conventional computer is still a complicated type writer. The product of thousands of keystrokes is a paper copy of that work. Eventually paper needs and is required to come shooting out the other end. We're still a paper based society, and I fear the only way that might change that is through higher paper costs or fewer printers. The last time I checked printers were still on sale, because they were cheaper and easier to use than any PDA currently on the market.

  3. Waiting for a Palm IPO? on 3Com Plans to Spin Off PalmPilot Division · · Score: 1

This is indeed a Good Thing (tm) for the palm pilot, I had thought that 3com would eventually (in the end) go belly up due to "innovations" in the handheld market, I use that term losely because most competitors have used Win CE (just what I need no keep board no mouse and a damn pen to do everything...) but I digress.

So 3Com spins off a new company X, company X goes IP0 and now has lots of dough. And maybe, just maybe with enough dough they'll put out a reasonably priced unit with more than 2mb of ram, but then I could be just dreaming...

Great a MP3 Palm w/ 2 mb of RAM where do I buy one of these ingenious little devices?

Please, I think they're still missing the boat on this product line. KISS. It's wonderful that they've added the ability to insert modules, but can you actually use an MP3 module with 2 mb of ram? In my opinion the only major advantage of buying a Visor instead of a Palm is the price -- which can change just as soon as the Visor is released. How much do you actually think it costs 3Com to produce a Palm?

ok now this has turned into a rant and i probably lost all continuity there... AH... yeah ya did.

  9. WTF do you expect? on Why Kids Kill · · Score: 1

You had it there, then you lost it... I agree when kids come home to an empty home they lose out. They become detached from their parents... However, I'm wondering exactly what right from wrong the school system is suppose to teach children. I suppose that you would suggest the teachers sit the children down in an auditorium and "teach" the children that killing your classmates is inappropriate behaviour. Please, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that ending someone else's life is "wrong". Honestly I think if you want to understand why children kill their classmates, their families, and themselves I think you need to understand how they feel about themselves. From what I understand these two boys were treated as outcasts from their school system. They were picked on/abused, etc... and God help the world if they have any sense of self worth left. When people feel picked on they turn and look for someone or something to hurt in return for their abuse, and society teaches us that getting even isn't enough, we need to get ahead. I'm not going to tell you what they did can ever be justified, I'm telling you I think treating people like shit, because you think it's funny can sometimes turn around and bite you in the ass.
