yes, ok. I admit that gawk isn't ones first idea of the best CGI programming language out there. But there are a few advantages, especially if your workin with small scripty like stuff. Specifically its very fast, and incredibly simple. You just couldn't possibly make a mistake with it.
Disadvantages are, of course, the uhhh...simple syntax...you don't even have a way to include external libraries unless you write up something yourself.
Ok. Maybe it isn't the _best_ of em out there, but you'd think somebody had at least mentioned it by now.
