One look at Samsung and their royalty problems with Microsoft should warn you why trusting and getting in bed with them is a BAD idea. Don't trust them a millimetre.

Honestly if it works better than wayland im all for it...Diversity is what makes Linux great. Maybe Ubuntu wanted to keep it under their control to cut down on the politics and make something that they can control and make work better for Ubuntu. Having alternatives makes the world a better place and being a sheepie and following the herd helps no one. I truly hope Ubuntu do a good job. After all its another system that can be forked, played with and generally improved.

Well im glad Open GL is getting a re-write soon as its showing its age. On win PC with warthuder it renders poorly with lots of artifacting. Can't wait for the new and improved Open GL :). With both ATI and Nvidia committing seriously to Linux drivers, hopefully the times of bad card support for newer cards will be over soon or shorter till fixed.

As long as my ATI drivers on my main pc, get better im all for it. Because Borderlands 2 on linux is a stuttering mess, compared to my other PC with a Nvidia card. Yeah thanks to patent trolls a lot of stuff is locked up tight. Lawyers would have Nvidias and Ati's balls in a fire, if they released code that they had licenced for free into the Linux community. So that explains why it probably not open sourced, plus the code probably has hidden secrets on how their chips work and they don't want the competition getting an edge.

I use ubuntu studio that is made for audiophiles and is XFCE by default with a customised low latency audio kernel built in. Its used as my TV media player PC. As for pulse audio doing weird things with Skype, l had that happen once. I ran the latest bleeding edge update options in Ubuntu studio and it somehow fixed itself.
