If the movie is out later in theatres because of the time it takes to do a translation, who is gonna buy the english version on DVD before it is done the theatre run?

If enough people speak english to make this a real problem, maybe the translation wasn't worth doing after all...

I remember seeing an article a year or two ago about how the 3d structure of HIV had finally been mapped. I think the article even mentioned that the researchers who did the mapping had identified a few potential targets for new drugs.

If there aren't a few startups working on it already, I'd be quite surprised. However, remember that the 3d structure of the viruses that this drug targets was mapped back in 1985 and it has taken until now to get a drug ready...

If you look at the moderation totals, you'll see that only 3 people moderated up this post. The other 2 points must be karma.

If I had moderator points, I'd rate Foogle's comment as "Overrated", but I only seem to get points assigned when I'm too busy to waste my time reading slashdot...

  4. Did you read the article? on Physics Fraud or Ground-Breaking Science? · · Score: 1
You, sir, are a moron, a troll or both.

Did you actually read that article? It was filled with quotes from other scientists saying stuff like (paraphrased)

"Mills's theory sounds like horse-shit, but he has some interesting observable phenomena to show. I saw the phenomena and I'm interested in finding out what the hell is going on."

Does that sound like someone who has been snowed over by a fast-talking salesman? Is that equating "It would rock if..." with "It is True that..."?

Instead of a tirade about how gullable the reporter is, how about checking up on his reporting? Contact some of the people quoted in the article. Verify that they exist, that they said what they were quoted as saying. Ask about the properties of the new materials they say they tested. See if you can get hold of a sample that you can hold in your hands (yeah, right).

Damnit, be skeptical rather than reactionary! I think this guy's (Mills) probably a hoax too. But having read the article, I now know that he exists, I know what his claims are (so I laugh later if-when they are refuted), and I know the names and institutions of some independant scientists who I could contact if I felt the pressing need to investigate further (which I don't).

Cyberfox's point was the point you missed: if it's that damned obvious, why didn't someone think of, research, develop, and release a product in 1994 or earlier?

It was Damned Obvious for quite a few years before it was practical or affordable on a consumer level, thats why.

If you had proposed building such a thing in 1994, people wouldn't have said "No way, thats impossible". They would have said "No way, wait a few years for storage to get cheaper."
