It seems Katz is spending more time _trying_ to find an issue to get "geeks" to rally behind him. I mean, exactly what parts of _Something About Mary_ or _South Park_ qualify as "geek humor"? Underage kids watching restricted movies isn't a geek issue, it's an ordinary issue. Please don't file everything under "geek" issue just to hope that all geeks will jump to agree with you.
But is the Z-80 processor in a TI-86 anywhere near fast enough to decompress MP3s? Especially considering how little room a 86 has. (Although the Super Mario Bros. version that has little jumping sounds was pretty neat.) I'd like to see someone write a compiler for a TI-86, I don't have enough time on my hands to learn graphing calculator assembly.
Why is it that whenever I hear about some "cracker" breaking into a system, that system is a webserver? Used to be that a cracker would break into a server to look around at the system and see how it worked, do crackers today even know how to do anything but use webserver exploits against webservers? One trick ponies.
