  1. Ignorant cunt on US States Banned From Exporting Trash To China Are Drowning In Plastic · · Score: 0

I don't have a clue what Europeans do, but I do know what they do in Afghanistan. I would love to see an Afghan be teleported through time and space to the local "transfer station" here in my neck of the woods, just for an hour to sit there and watch what we do with all our "junk." If he had no opinion about America before then, he would initially feel confusion...then disbelief...then incredulity...then anger...and finally he would return home with hatred in his heart for us and everything we stand for.

The past two weeks I have been working down there doing "community service." All day long, every single day, people come through this facility with perfectly usable items, which they then throw right into the crusher. Brand new and perfectly usable lumber, appliances, camp stoves, clothes, books, electrical wire, chairs and other furniture, big mirrors, high dollar insulation, brand new mattresses, you name it, you will see it there being thrown out.

The first day I worked there I, full of naivete, thought I could help right these wrongs by loading up my own truck with any items I could use. The next day I got my ass ripped and told by the head bitch in charge that we are not allowed to take ANYTHING even if the person moans about the waste of throwing out perfectly good items and explicitly offers it to us. The lady told me a story about somebody who was there doing the same thing as me, except he was putting a little work into the items then turning around and selling them on Craigslist. So let me get this straight...the guy was rescuing perfectly good items from being destroyed, putting a little labor labor into them, then finding people who needed these useful items, thus making the world a better place for everyone involved? Oh the HORROR!

This place was built with $2 million of tax payer dollars. It's one of the most inefficiently run operations I've ever seen. Give me $2 million and I will build a place across the street from it that is 10x more efficient and much less wasteful. I suggested they set up a table where people could turn in good usable items rather than crush them. 80% of their customers would appreciate that, but making such a suggestion is a waste of time cause these folks don't fucking care. Here we are in the 2nd Great Depression and they are content to further their own destruction by destroying usable resources which are needed and wanted by the multitudes of poor people struggling just to get by.

Actions have consequences. Resources are not finite. The day is coming soon when this wicked system will come to an end. Each and every one of these cock suckers who work at this facility, who frown on me cause I tried to buck the system, these douchebags who drive their big ass souped up fancy diesel trucks (all financed of course) in an illusion of wealth, while gleefully crushing and destroying real wealth without a care in the world, will one day soon come to regret their stupidity and wastefulness. I hope each and every one of them starves to death in the gutter as they contemplate the mountains of good usable stuff they willfully destroyed in their lifetimes.

P.S. In this Bizarro world we live in, you can toss out somebody's perfectly good microwave or blender and they won't bat an eye, but just try grabbing that one bag of glass or plastic recycles and start to toss it, and see how loudly and quickly they scream about it!

The article you cite says his disclosures did not lead to any deaths of any military sources. Many believe Manning's leaks precipitated the Arab Spring [mondoweiss.net] which could have a death toll over 30,000 [usnews.com]. And it certainly crippled foreign relations (with the revelations in the e-mails) and may have made the US military and diplomatic processes somewhat less effective in areas where lives were and are at stake.

The Arab Spring was caused because the people found out they were being fucking lied to by their own governments. Why are our foreign relations fucked? Because our God damned cheating, conniving LIES were exposed for all to see...except you, apparently! So you want to blame the guy who exposed the lies, not the fucking liars who betrayed us all? What a piece of shit you turned out to be.

Also, whistle-blower laws are not automatic, (and I don't know if they should be). The fallout of the Snowden and Manning handling of secrets emphasizes my point. You have to report the crimes up the proper chain -- merely publicizing things you think may be whistle-blower protected is the wrong way to go about it.

What a naive dumb ass you are.

Manning should have known all of this. He could have followed proper whistle-blower protocol. He chose not to. I'd have much more sympathy if he had originally tried the proper channels and was rebuffed

Walking out the door sends a message that "just doing the normal thing" doesn't. Some of us like for things to actually change, instead of being selfish assholes who support the status quo. The only way things change is if people buck the system and stand up for themselves.

One time I worked at a steel stamping plant. It was basically a slave factory, a total third world shithole, right here in America surrounded by "civilization." I walked out after 6 hours, didn't even bother saying goodbye, just waited til break time then drove the fuck away and never looked back.

Another time I worked for Jack Henry and Associates which is a company that writes and supports banking software. My job was in data conversion, running software to convert check imaging data off optical platters to "modern" PC workstations. Well actually the banks were supposed to do it but the software was so shitty and our programmers' knowledge of the old data formats incomplete so it had to be babysat every step of the way. My work environment was ye olde typical cubicle farm, a corporate hellhole where we each had a list of 20-30+ banks to keep track of, to the point where your mind was so shot you couldn't even remember your own name. There was pressure to stay late working and to work on the weekends. I refused. I worked my ass off and when 5 o'clock came around I walked out the door. Others were not so strong and one guy in his late 20s was even having medical problems from all the stress of working through the weekend.....and for fucking what? Just so some bank President somewhere can sleep soundly and let the interest accumulate, while this guy slaves his fucking life away to make him rich? NO thanks.

I lived an hour away from there and one Friday night while I was at a restaurant I got a call from the boss asking me to come in and fix a problem with a conversion that had gone wrong long after I left for the weekend. I refused. I didn't put it this way but I was thinking, are you fucking kidding me? You want me to ditch my family and drive an hour back to work in the pouring rain to fix some bullshit on a fucking Friday? What, is the goddamn world gonna end if I don't? Um.....NO, it's not! So fuck off! The next week even as autistic as I am I couldn't help but notice I was getting the cold shoulder from the other plebes; I get the impression one of the lead programmers is who got the next call and like a dumb ass slave of course he allowed himself to be called in. Not long after that incident I wrote out a resignation letter, updated my list of "work in progress" with all details for the next chump to take over, then slid it under my supervisor's door one day at lunch time, then just walked out. The boss rang my cell phone over and over for the next few days, trying to entice me back I'm sure as I was one of their best guys, but I didn't bother answering as there is NO way I would ever go back to that shithole. I'm glad I left with no notice. It's what they deserved.

Now I'm happily self employed and working on what will one day be a multi billion dollar business. You couldn't pay me enough to go back to work for anyone. Corporate America has gone to absolute shit. It's every man for himself and dog eat dog out there. NO thanks.

It is unlawful distribution of a copyrighted work, a federal felony punishable by fines and jail time.

I don't recognize said laws. As far as I'm concerned these laws do not apply in my home or community.

Morally I would agree with you that infinite goods such as recorded media should be priced inversely to their supply, ie: they should approach free as supply approaches infinity. Selling a product should be just that; I should lose ownership and you should acquire it. But that is not the way our system works.

Excuse me..."our"? Don't presume to speak for me. I do not recognize your corrupt system. It is illegitimate and immoral.

Waxing philosophical about having government small enough to fit in a uterus is fine and all, but in the real world artists and copyright holders have property rights that must be upheld in the same manner as your right to disallow strangers from sitting on your couch and drinking your beer must be upheld.

    Bullshit, and wrong.

Serving unauthorized content deprives those content providers and all the middlemen of their cut of the revenues that an end user would have to pay.

So society benefits hugely, at the expense of people with huge overblown entitlement complexes being all pissed off about it. Sounds like a win-win to me.

Those content collective providers have developed a distribution chain that they wish their content delivered by.

    Oh well.

Just because you don't like that distribution chain does not give you the right to take their content and redistribute it.

Bullshit. I have the right to copy electronic bits as much as I damn well please. There is nothing you can do about it.

If I kicked in your front door and drank your beer while you were at work you'd probably be upset about it too.

No, I'd just shoot you in the face.

Also, if you try to come in my house and deprive me of the bits I copied fair and square, I will likewise shoot you in the face.

If you don't want your data to be shared, then don't share it...period.

Note: I am in no way advocating for prosecution of users of these services; you should be free to receive whatever happens to be broadcast. However the person responsible for the machines making that broadcast are criminals under current law and are making money off of someone else's works in a way that is illegal. Netflix and several other services manage to do all of this entirely legally by the way, so it's not like the idea of legitimate streaming is impossible.

As soon as Netflix allows me to watch whatever show I want for a cost of nothing more than the time taken to download, then I will consider using their services. Neither they nor the media entities they represent are entitled to a damn thing from me.
