I am an IT teacher at a very small Christian school in the UK. We have around 15 PCs which are very old and in poor condition. I've been using them as quasi-diskless (I mean, no boot roms, just etherboot floppies) X-terminals from a fairly decent server running SuSE.
Plus side: it's a full-featured environment that does everything I need to teach my courses.
Negative side: In the UK at least, Microsoft is, as another post has said, the de facto standard.
