I've used two different DSL providers in the Dallas area. I've used SWBell's service, and the throuput rates were awesome. They advertised rates of 1.5 down and 128 up. In the 9 months I had the service, I averaged 600-900 kbps, and peaked at 4 mbsp.
I lived north of Dallas for a while, were I used GTE's service for 9 months or so. We paid outragous money for 384 down/128 up. The average througput was between 150-250 kbps.
