Which Laptop To Buy?

· Score: 1
I've been using a TP 600E for at least 4 years now. I started with Slackware 4 (2.0.4 kernel), and am currently running Slackware 7.1 (2.2.18 kernel). This is one reliable laptop, and IBM used STANDARD chips in it! The only "funky" item is the WinModem, and IBM has free Linux drivers for that, now.
I've been forced to try and salvage some Linux installs on Toshiba Satellites (tricky, but do-able) and HP OmniBooks (AVOID!), but the 600E is definitely one of the best documented laptops out there. Before buying a laptop to install Linux on, take a look at the model-specific laptop links at Linux Online. That's a great resource for what laptops rock, and which ones suck.
Would I get another laptop? Eventually, but right now my 300Mhz 600E is quite adequate.
Would I get another ThinkPad? Definitely.
