  1. classic game theory - Prisoner's Dilemma. on Should Edward Snowden Trust Apple To Do the Right Thing? · · Score: 1

The only way to win is not to play as a prisoner - so trust is not possible if you put two people in two separate rooms - or even less than that, one person in a room, with the threat of losing rights to property, freedoms... the "other guy" always looses. It's never like tv.

  2. Los Dummelos Moronos on LastPass Reporting a Security Breach, Including Authentication Hashes and Salts · · Score: 1

Guys, what is your problem? The only way these guys have ANYTHING is if you use your master password on an actual website other than just logging into your lastpass account. Now, if your master paswoord is boobies, then, you're in trouble. But if you use anything remotely decent, you are fine. Especially if you use 2 factor authentication any time you login outside your known trusted devices the diminishing returns are so low... And unlike most companies, at least LastPass has the integrity to actually tell us when there has been a problem. You know, because that's something that responsible companies SHOULD DO. But mostly, they DON'T.

  3. What I can't process about global warming is: on Why Our Brains Can't Process the Gravest Threats To Humanity · · Score: 1

When I search "simple facts global warming" on the internet, I am appalled by the droll, patronizing, completely off base baloney that these websites spit at you. I won't paraphrase it, go ahead and search. You will be horrified at the complete lack of credible rigorous demonstration. Everything is emotional appeals that does not demonstrate anything. If you want me to process it, explain it with real data. Don't let me read junk that says "NOAA adjust historical temperature sample data". I will dismiss anything where samples are changed. Sorry.

Bzzzt. Wrong. This is not about competing with the gigafactory. MB is staking a spot in the space against all the other newcomers who would brand a retail style home power solution. Also, by tailoring their product, they also approach similar suppliers to tesla, before other competitors also ask for similar supplies and drive up the cost.

  5. Me Too! Me Too!! on Mercedes-Benz Copies Tesla, Plans To Offer Home Energy Storage · · Score: 1

This is only to do with economies of scale. Their goal is to get in, get the best contracts before demand drives up the cost to enter the business segment. MB just saw the writing o the wall and decided they would rather not be the "Borders Booksellers" of the new energy consumption paradigm. Don't try to analyze a business decision with an oscilloscope.
