this same thing was done with screw worm flies (these are flies that can lay eggs in even tiny scratches, within about a week of hatching the flesh eating maggots can make a hole the size of a fist)
who cares about specifications...the whole idea is complety pointless. Its technology for technology's sake...I am struggling to think of any areas where speech has the advantage over a visually represented app...
and besides think of the amount of training you have to do train voice recognition software...
I couldnt agree more and whats more, though it is useful to understand what is going on at a low-level, it is helpful to forget about this complexity and get on with the business in hand, if we all sat around worrying about assembler nothing would get built.
How can you be as naive as to rate languages in such a way?
Languages are tools that are good for some jobs and crap for others...
rating them on one feature is stupid..yes java is slow but you cannot build distributed apps in vb with the same ease as java..
In agreement with the guy who did the first reply....most commercial apps are just methods to process and present information. Sorry if this sounds obvious to most people but you seemed not to have noticed.

and that worked OK...
I think you are a little confused
though you could be a little gnome

Sorry but have I wandered into some alternate universe where java programmers are slave labour or something.....
