never applied to either. to me the university system is a lot like the government...they have all their own rules, traditions, and such. better to leave the whole system behind than try to work with it.

  3. don't use computers at all on Computer Curriculum for Inner City Kids? · · Score: 1

teach them binary, and hexadecimal. thinking logically is what computers are about...and you don't need a computer to work on that.

  4. what about nanotechnology? on Thomson's Vision: Smart Cards For Everything · · Score: 1

when you can copy entire objects, how do you prevent someone from duplicating smartcards? oh, of course, ban research on nanotechnology because it encourages the breaking of the law(DMCA anyone?)! we're just seeing the last desperate moves of modern day dinosaurs.

anybody heard this song from papa roach? yeah...big label band and might even be a payola song, but just listen to the lyrics. might as well be the anthem for this system.

oh ya. what's strange is how hard it is to get hex mantissa and exponent from computer floats--even though it's easier and less error prone than doing decimal conversion. i wrote the only hex-native floating point calculator i know of (it's a java applet). oh and if anybody downmods this, may you get run over by a large truck. :)

you can take out quite a few lawyers with a few of those. throw in some politicians too. someday 1's and 0's will be free--things will be tons simpler. no workarounds, no licenses, no cd-keys. the revolution may be gradual, or quick and violent. either way...load up your gun and think of a better future.

of course...after TSHTF and it's TEOTWAWKI, you'll care a lot more about your weapon than your music. lemme tell ya, you didn't miss anything by not listening to "destiny's child". the only cd i've bought in years is "infest" by papa roach...big label ya, but the song "between angels and insects" makes it worth it, heh. i think you hit on something important--when we finally can listen to whatever stream of bits we want to, we'll be evolved enough to not want to listen to britney spears clones.

anyway, are you married? thus, do you have someone to share your worldview with? do you have kids? you can attempt to keep them away from that stuff.

ok, so it costs $500 million to send a probe to mars. that's a fraction of the cost of keeping old people alive. money is just a big illusion. this is what it costs: a lot of fuel and a lot of metal. something the earth has plenty of. if you look beyond the seething masses, you'll see money is just a distraction. all that matters is physics, and what's out there.

of course visionaries like me will just be ignored or modded down. ask galileo how intelligent people who don't think with the crowd are treated.
