Should be: How To Repel Smart, Wealthy, Sensitive Men Who Worship The Ground You Walk On and Instead Attract The Blow-Dried, Insensitive, Beer-Swilling, Abusive Jock That You've Always Dreamed Of.
Maybe there should be a companion volume for the guys that the author's profile fits: Jocks: How To Meet Beautiful Women As Shallow As You Are, And How To Keep Them No Matter How Miserable They Get. Subtext: "With Special Section On What To Do About Battered Women's Shelters!"
This thing is like a primer of how to find a bad relationship - base your encounters on your hairdo instead of your wit and empathy.
Makes me want to vomit that most people still think this way in the '90s.
I was wondering if fellow TN-holders might oblige my curiosity by posting the number of TN visas you've had, over the number of years. I'll start: 7 visas, 7 years.
I'm interested in whether TN visas are really being used for temporary purposes or not. I think not, but I also don't believe we're taking jobs away from Americans (c'mon folks, there are *plenty* of jobs out there, I could literally get three offers a week until Hell freezes over, and believe me, I'm not underpaid.)
Sure glad Slashdot is protecting my anonymity... I think the INS doesn't like us.
I did this using a Microtech CardMaster. 2 PCMCIA ports, plus PCMCIA->CompactFlash adapter. In theory it shouldn't be hard to do for Linux.
One big caveat though is that the card is an IRQ hog... it requires a free IRQ between 9 and 12 per PCMCIA card hosted - something not advertized in their literature (I had to call tech support to find out). I don't know much about driver software but I imagine this is a hardware limitation and as such couldn't be overcome in a linux driver. I think overall USB support is a better way to go.
Should also mention that I got this to support image transfer from my Nikon CP950. I've been very happy with it, aside from minor software glitches which will theoretically be eliminated in a flash update, it kicks. If they put TTL in the next model, it'll kick even more.
This technology could easily die on the vine due to the "Hindenberg" effect. Dirigibles (sp?) and Hydrogen as a power source were effectively killed, or at least seriously damaged by the crash of the Hindenberg. Despite the fact that helium-based dirigibles should be totally safe from the accident that happened to the Hindenberg, and that advances in Hydrogen -absorbing and -releasing alloys that render it basically safe have shown promise of making hydrogen safe for awhile.
Regardless of whether or not stealing an eyeball would actually work, the various published forms of "Stupid Criminal Tricks" convinces me that someone will try it. The first time that happens, our wonderful sensationalist media will probably scare everyone away from the technology forever.
Maybe PIN's in addition to iris-recognition will keep this from happening.
Don't believe me? Try wearing a trench coat to your local high school.
