We have something called the disability discrimination act here in the UK, which pretty much rules out many interesting uses of Javascript if things like screen readers can't process them, and if there's no other way of providing that enhanced functionality to disabled users.
As others have commented here, I'm not convinced that the Google feature is in fact much more than eye-candy; and thus, since it doesn't really add any functionality, isn't really covered by the DDA. However, as soon as it actually becomes useful for something, then it will be covered; and I don't fancy the job of getting JAWS or something like that to interpret the JS in a meaningful way!
For any of those out there who were at Europython in Sweden a couple of weeks ago can testify, Nuxeo have a large presence in the French public sector. Nuxeo's product, CPS, fulfils a similar role to Plone as a CMS. Like Plone, it's based on Zope.
In fact, I hear that it's got to the point where if you're planning a CMS project in Public-Sector-France-Land and you *don't* have a Zope-based product on your shortlist, questions are asked why... Corroborations, anyone?
How long does it take mod chips to become available for consoles? Not very long. How long do we think it'll take for mod chips to sidestep the hardware portion of palladium, and enable you to copy protected information, to come along?
Rather than having the pad of paper to the side, couldn't the (presumably) touch-sensitive bit have been put on the underside of the laptop? You could then make notes on it like it was a clipboard... And it could fold out to the side for use when the laptop was open in the usual way.

So, this involves a new piece of hardware.
