  1. Everything has problems on Fun with Fingerprint Readers · · Score: 2, Insightful

I understand that security needs to be tight when it comes to money, but I think that although this guy brings up some interesting points, I think that this method of purchase is more secure than most of our purchases done today. Cash can be stolen, so can credit cards, and people can forge your checks. So what's the big deal with the capability to duplicated fingerprints. I think it would be much harder to get a clear fingerprint from someone without their knowing than to pickpocket them and steal their wallet. The only problem I can see with this is that you can't just go and have your fingerprints changed (unless you have a lot of money), so this would be more permanent. I think that adding a 6 digit pin would fix this problem.

  2. Safety on Electric Plug 14Mbps Spec Agreed On · · Score: 1

Am I the only person that's sitting here thinking that although this is a great sounding idea, the fire hazard that's involved here, I mean there's all of this power running over every cable, and let's say you're like me and have 4 computers all networked at times, running wires through the attic, don't you think things would be likely to catch on fire if a cord frayed? I've never been zapped by a Cat5 though...

  3. Re:Computers and music on More Napster Updates · · Score: 1

I just don't understand what the problem is with Metallica, people trade MP3s of all kinds, it's not like they pick out theirs specifically and trade just them. I think that they're just blowing this whole thing out of proportion

  4. Re:Public Offering on Descent 3 for Linux Announced · · Score: 1

I agree, I've seen Myth II run on a linux box, and it's really smooth... The framerate is barely sacraficed, although in some games, framerate is essential

  5. Compression? on Ask Slashdot: Storage Capacity of the Human Brain? · · Score: 1

Do you think it's possible that our brain uses some kind of compression like jpeg does and mpeg and everything does, just in a different way? Sorta like a zip file and we have to unzip it before we can view it? Because we only use like a sixteenth of our brain, even if it was 13TB, that still does seem like as much as it should be for all that we learn in a lifetine, all of the knowledge that we gain, all of the memories and such all stored in a video type format...
Maybe it's done in like a model type thing, where we all remember the model of a person's body and just remember the frames and positions....

oh well, enough of my rambling, haha, I started to wander, lol, ok, enough enough...
