Sound interesting. I also installed RedFlag. I don't have good impression on the product except the background. The source is available, but I don't think the whole product is really a solid product as a desktop OS, unless you have to use Chinese like I do. The packages are very old, and a lot of software are not included. I thought about to improve it myself, but the GUI stuff is not really my strong point, I work on driver level, people really don't care it's in Chinese or English. After reading all these emails, I feel these are not fair to Chinese Linux developers and users, even some honest Linux companies. These splits the Linux community, just what like US government does in politics. Linux community should fight against this for the unification of the community.

Mr.White didn't give any evidence. From my expeience, that allegation is completely groundless. For example, the dominant Linux distribution in China RedFlag-Linux (http://www.redflag-linux.com) is open to everyone. You can download the binary cd and source cd for free. If you think that any applications that run on Linux should be open source, you are completely wrong. GPL only applies to GPLed code, not the code that is owned by companies. I worked for two companies in US, I ported proprietary applications and drivers to Linux. None of them are open source. If Mr.White thinks that the respectable Chinese Linux developers(just like the Linux developer in US or Europe) violates GPL, he should be prepared to give evidence before opening his mouth. Unless he can give an evidence, I have to say this is just groundless allegation.

History just proved that Maxism (if you can say that is Maxism at all) of Soviet Union version and China version are wrong. It hasn't proved that Maxism is wrong. Maxism can be realized in some day in different forms, I will not be surprised that American people are promoting Maxism five hundreds from now, just as they are trying to sell democracy to everyone right now. Maxism is a superset of American democracy. I don't think there are any traditional communists in China. The true communists have become the idealists, dreamists like me. The true communists are not dangerous, they are not extremist as capitalists evilized. They are generous, they can accomodate different opionions. In one word, they are the best people. That's the people every goverment want its citizens to be, including US government. For history reasons, people like to think that "communist = maxist = extremist = evil". If Carl Max is still alive, he must be very angry. We are living in the world, only because we still have dreams.

I can not agree with all what you said. Comparing to 20 yrs ago, Chinese people's life is much, much better. Even people are still complaining, you can not deny the truth that Chinese people are enjoying the best life and democracy in Chinese thousands of years history. Of course, if you use American standard, that is nothing. Things are like black and white, there are grays. I am proud of what Chinese people have accomplished the last 50 yrs.

I am a native Chinese. So I am eligible to tell what a Chinese thinks. The communism died in Chinese more than 10 years ago, the anti-communist propoganda is completely unfounded. All these propoganda is for curbing the rise of China. Personally, I like to see communism is in China. I am not communist, but I really like the idea of Maxism, it is the future of the world. Unfortunately, Maxism has always been taken adavantage by polititians that are not Maxist at all. Its name has been poinsoned. What Chinese people want is true Maxism, not "Maxism" imposed on them by politian. The democracy protmoted by Americas is as bad as the "Maxism" Chinese experienced before. What Chinese people need most is a united China and Chinese democracy. I am very, very surprised that so many Americas were cheated by polititians. They are so naive that they believe that polititians are fighting the democracy of mainland China and Taiwan Island. What these politians are fighting for are the reputation, compain fund from military companies. I am happy to see that you are one of those that can really think with brains, not like others that are poisoned by a bunch of anti-communist propoganda. If all the people in the US can think like you, we will see a much safer and quieter world.
