I respectfully disagree. I've got a 4.11 Novell Box (with NDS) that has been running for 476 days. Yes, when NDS was new (Netware 4.0) it had it's problems - but lately - it's been very stable. We all know by now, that the.0 release of anything from anyone should not be run on production machines until at least the second service pack or the.1 rev.
With the common amount of power and hardware problems, I agree it's not usual, but it's not unheard of either.
I have personally seen 730 days (on netware 3.12) - we took it down to upgrade it.
and I currently have a Netware 4.11 that has been up for 476 days.
Server version: NetWare 4.11 - August 22, 1996
Server up time: 476:09:32:16
Later this year, I'll have to take it down to upgrade it to Netware 5.1.
The damn things just run. It's at a site across a slow (56k) wan link over 800 miles from the IS staff at headquarters, and with NDS it requires less than one man-hour/week to manage the server and the users. I cannot yet say that about Linux, and don't even think about that micro$haft product.
