Actually, computing discrete logs in a finite field also breaks RSA. And any general solution to elliptical curve problems is likely to solve factoring as well. Even if it didn't, the curve y=n/x could be modeled piecewise as elliptical curves within constraints, and each piece could be searched for discrete valued points.
