The PVR-250 or PVR-350 are good choices if you want to use KnobbMyth or follow the Fedora Myth How To.
The PVR-150 is a good single tuner card, or even better, the PVR-500. The 500 is detected as two 150s (so you can record two programs simultaneously), takes up only one slot, and splits the coax input internally.
However, the 150 and 500 cards are supported only under the IVTV development branch (0.3.4). Although very stable, the driver is changing daily and requires more effort when compared to Fedora MythTV or KnobbMyth.
Spyware is definitely a bigger problem than viruses and spam, and we've seen a huge increase in business because of it.
Using scan tools and/or manually removing spyware is very time consuming and doesn't always yield the best results. For the average customer off the street, formating the drive works best.
Our shop charges a flat rate of $127.50 to backup the entire hard drive, reload the system from scratch, install all updates, and restore the user files from backup.
The customer leaves happy, and we know that we're not going to get a call because a spyware program reinstalled itself after it left our shop.
Actually the Maine School Area District isn't funding the purchase of the laptops. The project is financed from a combination of private funds (the Gates foundation) state funds (derived from sales tax revenue) and Federal funds (federal matching fund grant).
The project was recently reduced in scope from $50M to $30M due to budget shortfalls in Maine and is in jeopardy of further cuts.
BTW, when Governor King originally proposed giving the laptops to the students directly there was such an uproar that he revised his proposal to have the teachers control them.
I priced-out a DELL 380 workstation equipped identically with the exception of Windows XP Pro. Interestingly, the Windows equipped PC was $8 more.

A floppy holds more data, but you can't always boot from a USB key.

Based on the slant I'd say the person who wrote this is a "MS Linux Insider" mentioned in Brian Valentine's internal memo.
