You should be able to run it on a box that allows >2G/process, but it will probably go funny if it hasn't been tested on those boxes. There's alot of code that breaks when you pass 2G - signed numbers go negative, memory addresses look like error codes, and so on. any latent bugs might be tickled by something like a pointer to 0x80040104

Someone else suggested compiling from source. This works, but you can probably find binaries of bash 2.x as well. SCO also distributes it as part of Skunkware - a bunch of Free software. That may be your best bet; it's available for download or purchase (free while supplies last). Check their website.

In my case, there haven't been any changes since wordpad that warrant incompatibility. Of course, I'm a programmer, and my docs are usually text or html with simple formatting (easy on the eyes). Never mind that anything i write for distribution with software has to be legible on a virgin win98 install.

    My understanding is as follows:
    • Low 2GB for apps
    • next GB for drivers
    • top GB is kernel

As i recall, you can configure NT to allow 3GB for apps (you may have to buy the expensive version though), in which case the drivers and kernel get a bit cramped.

in any case, NT should be able to address 64GB of ram, but only map 2GB into any one app.
