for me the wright brothers were great inventors, but what they created was not a real airplane (for the ones who didn't read my comment linked above, please do so before replying)
in 1908 the wright brothers where indeed far ahead of santos dumont whom at this time was suffering from multiple sclerosis
but take a look at this Smithsonian Institute page (http://educate.si.edu/scitech/impacto/graphic/avi ation/alberto.html) about santos dumont first flight in 1906
"thanks to this flight the "Archdecon Prize" was awarded to Santos Dumont, who had thus, solved the problem of making a heavier-than-air machine take off by its own means."
so, why would they write this if he wasn't the first to fly?
the wright brothers patented their method of lateral control in 1906
santos dummont made his first machine propeled flight in 1906
and in his second try yet in 1906, he could control the plane in a very similar but not identical way to the wright brothers
and to all reading this thread, according to this Smithsonian Institute page (http://educate.si.edu/scitech/impacto/graphic/avi ation/alberto.html) about santos dumont first flight in 1906
"thanks to this flight the "Archdecon Prize" was awarded to Santos Dumont, who had thus, solved the problem of making a heavier-than-air machine take off by its own means."

have you ever heard about research? maybe someone will evolve the idea and we can have some new way of changing design and fixing bugs
and i've replied to you in:

i kind of agree with you, maybe i was a bit misleading
but my concept of airplane is of a machine that can take off by it's own means and fly, and by this conecpt, Santos Dumont made the first flight, ok?
please read the following post

unfortunatelly, there is no complete/correct account of that experiments

just correcting you,

all this discussion about who invented the airplane in the USA
and the real inventor was a Brazilian named Santos Dummont whose first flight was in Paris, France.
tsc, tsc, tsc
RMS **is** indeed engineered for user-friendlyness.
he is just picky about his friends

i've received this, and in three languages
portuguese, french and english
oh my, not again!!!
another glitch in the matrix?
it's like they trying to sue the big ISPs
finally there are some big guys fighting the RIAA(defending from it or attacking it)
please someone answer me
aside from the fair use issue
how will these copy protection mechanisms work
when copyright for that particular work expire???
i did exactly this,
got off from a big company, and started to work at a university, got to know the professors and started participating in research
its being very satisfactory
> It's capacitance ... 1 Farad (a massive amount > if you know anything about capacitors, maybe
:)

for those who don't get it
in tech school some 10 years ago, my teacher said
that those where impossible
he said one would need to split Earth in two to get this capacitance!
even in Brazil the difference is absurd
the DVD is only about US$ 3,00 more expensive than the soundtrack CD
interesting point,
this is what i've been doing with my collection
but i haven't stopped to thik about that as a trend
if only they didn't charge as much for CDs
i'd (for example) would buy much more discs
i like to buy the CDs i like, even when i don't like the discs very much
but for today prices, i almost don't buy anymore
it's so stupid to blame the low on sales on piracy, when lowering CD prices would make the sales rise
most people who pirate the CDs wouldn't buy them anyway, and many would buy if they where cheaper
