Why would you give up on 1% to 5% cash back with many reward type cards, and the chance to build credit history, by not using a credit card? If you always take care to pay in full every month, how is that really "being in debt"?
I get about a buyer every two weeks in eBay that buys one of my items for twice retail. However, judging by the high number page views (but not bids) in those auctions, it is clear that most people comparison-shop agressively and don't blindly bid on the first search result.
I also agree about finding less bargains around, as it's been hard to find new sources of eBay resellable items on the web.
Typical of Blizzard to hype their games years in advance, but they always end up producing classics. The betas always signal that the going gold is coming fast. I will definitely sign up for this one.
By the way, a great site to read up more on War3 is here.
Being pretty much a Linux newb, I was looking for a way to play divx movies on my new Mandrake 8.1 installation. Reading this story on slashdot, I thought MPlayer sounded great and went to their site for info. First I found out I had to compile the app myself, not a big deal. The sucky thing was that I have gcc 2.96, but I went ahead and gave it a shot anyway. Installed perfectly in 30 minutes, with a GUI and different skins. Played my movies perfectly. I'd love full quicktime support, but the current version is impressive as is.

The best thing is its weird apperance, it always draws comments from people. It is quite small though, so some people don't like to use it.
