I agree. I have an (old now) hp laserjet 5p printer. I originally bought to balance features/quality and *price/sheet*. I thought about buying an inkjet printer a couple of years ago, but had no driving need for one. In light of these recent events in the printer world, I will still wait.
It may suck, but if people are willing to shell out the dough for hp inkjet cartridges, then that is their issue. Unless there is a cooperative monopoly to fix cartridge prices, then laws of economics will dictate that people will gravitate to the cheaper stuff when the hp stuff is deemed too expensive.
