...the message encoded in our dna is the question of life, the universe and everything, to which the answer is 42. Or was that in the cave men who died off?
Remember that when they by the company, they get all the source to anything that is binary. That makes porting easy. Most of the Admin stuff is Perl anyway. It would run just fine with a few tweaks. Besides there are more advanced web based admin tools out there than the Cobalt ones (webmin).
I have a Nokia 6185. I love the thing. At my company, we give the user their choice of phone. First off, those little square Sony ones suck. Don't even think about getting one. We've been through so many of those things it's not funny. Needless to say, we refuse to outfit our employees with them anymore. More to the point:
It is a fairly regular occurance to replace phones. Our engeneers especially seem to give them a beating. That's why we insure them though. We have replaced 1 Nokia. Not because it was banged around. It fell off off someones belt into the toilet.
I drop my 6185 at least twice a week (I'm a klutz). It has suffered nothing but scratches to the REPLACEABLE faceplate. The antenna is a little banged up, but it still works like a charm. I can say however, I haven't acctually tried to hurt my phone. That's just kinda stupid.
Somehow I missed this being announced on Slashdot. It amazes me that this would even happen. It is such a good idea. It is very utopian. I can see this as the way of developing code in the future. I can see inviting 20 people to polish off some code over the weekend. Of corse, I can also see springing for the airfare and giving each hacker a check too. That is, if it was a comercial release. I love the idea. Anyone up for hanging out in San Diego Holloween weekend?
I remember drooling over the P75 version of the Toughbook. They where a lot more expensive back then also. I'm glad to see that they are still making them. Now, only if it came bundled with one of those nifty solar chargers. . .
Wow, I'd like to sit around for a few weeks in the rockies and make some robots. Maybe they'll develop a reasonably prices ABIO....that would be nice. I have a thing about my little pint sized dog being more expensive than my car. It just shouln't be that way. Hummmm, maybe if I sell my car, I could afford to buy one. Of corse, I'd have to come up with the add'l $1,500.....
I am looking for a pretty GUI Mail client w/pgp abilitys. I am successfully converting all of my company to Linux. I am also looking to implement a secure/signed email policy. It's gotta be pretty for the simple folk. Thanks.

Give 'em a break, they're still running the mail merge for the form letter response...

Maybe you could use it as an example of bad flash...

That's my 2.5 cents.
Why didn't I think of somthing like this. Oh wait, I don't have $8k/mo to get it started. It's a GREAT idea. Maybe someday in San Diego.
