I work at a telecommunication company as a UNIX sysadmin. We also use the On Call procedure.
It's like this: mon-fri from 17:00 - 08:00 say $50 a day sat-sun say $75 a day
and with this we have CALL UP (don't have to go to the company) and CALL IN (have to go to the company). CALL IN is better paid because you have to leave the house.
But here we have laws about these things so they (the companies) have to have something like this.
