Where did it say in the article that these mp3's were ALL made from CD's that the employees own? I agree that 1 million is an awful big fine, but no company should promote the use of illegally obtained mp3s by providing a server on which to store them. Who honestly thinks that ALL of IIS's mp3s were made legally.
You may not want anything to look like an MS product, but that's what is going to sell Linux to the masses. The more familiar seeming and friendly looking the better.

While I agree that the animated crap and super-friendly-bubbly-UI is annoying as hell in XP, anyone with any NT/2000 experience won't have a problem in upgrading to it.
If I'd come in cold, it would have been much worse, because I wouldn't even have known the right questions to ask.
In all honesty, coming in from the cold probably would have been easier as you would not have been looking for settings in the 95/98 locations. Anyone who has ever made the switch from 98 to NT or whatever would probably agree that once you learn where the settings are, they are much easier to maintain.
Oh well, just my opinion.

I'm running XP Pro w/ IE 6 and have never had any problems viewing PDF's on the fly. And unless my memory fails me (which I highly doubt) I never had to install a plugin.
As far as Homeworld goes I fully agree with grace on this one. Although Homeworld may not have turned out to be as popular as other RTS games, it had features that I have yet to see matched. The story that was told with Homeworld is the only one that I know of that could stand by itself as the central idea for a movie or novel. Any addicted player of this game will agree with that and be happy to talk about it. It also came with some of the most captivating music of any game I've ever played. It was great to be able to play a game that really made you want to win for reasons other than self-satisfaction while listening to great music all while kicking serious ass. It definitely deserved every award that it received (including GOTY) and should serve as a model for other such games for a long time!
South Carolina has had this for some time now.
