  1. Missing keys? on (Nearly) Zero-Force Keyboard · · Score: 1
To those who have complained about the key layout and missing keys, I can't believe they would try to market a product that completely lacked so many useful keys

Does anyone agree with me that the best version of this device might be one where the entire surface is input-sensitive like a huge touchpad, and such things as "key location" would just be a matter of coordination between the driver software and the contact-paper/plastic you have stuck on top of the thing? You would have a lot of flexibility with a device like this.

  2. Reliability sucks too on Why Won't You Pay for Content? · · Score: 1

With the frequency of failed page loads and disconnections, I could imagine it being a rather common situation where you would make a micropayment and never get the content. Or, depending on the order of things, you could receive the content and the micropayment would fail.

  3. Because no one has asked.... on Why Won't You Pay for Content? · · Score: 1

I've never run into sites that ask payments for information, other than Northernlight search engine and a few newspaper sites with archives.

  4. That ad was a failure. on Webvan Out Of Gas · · Score: 1
I'd not heard of Webvan before, but I had seen that banner before. I always looked at the "shopping cart", but looked away before it ever got to the "Webvan" part of the animation. Now that you point it out to me, I see the Webvan part of the ad.

This banner ad is a failure. They should have had a NON-animated GIF so you'd see the name of the company before you looked away. As it is, I never saw the name of the company.

  5. Might be one reason they died on Webvan Out Of Gas · · Score: 1
You never heard of them; I never heard of them.... until their business obituary appeared. Maybe if we had heard of them back when they were actually in business, they might have had a better chance.

I hear of a huge number of companies, but never heard of this one.

According to Hormel Foods' SPAM Trademark Policy, "We do not object to use of this slang term to describe UCE, although we do object to the use of our product image in association with that term." Hormel just doesn't want SPAM Luncheon Meat to be confused with UCE.

How about calling UCE "digital luncheon meat"?
