This comparison isn't very good. The PS2 sells like hotcakes on it's merits as a gaming platfform. The AOL deal is mainly about online gaming at this stage. Any surfing, email, banking etc. is just bonus stuff, not the mail selling point.
Also, you fail to see the big picture. This system might not suit you, but since Sony is about making money the PS2
(and AOL for that matter) is pitched at the big masses who don't give a toss about "full functionality".
