    One killer feature that may motivate me to upgrade would be a fully water-proof design and a built in airbag to protect against accidental drop damage.

    I feel the same about my iPhone 6. My hands are smaller, so a bigger device is too hard to use one handed. Further refinements to the software are always something I look forward to, but at its core, the phone does all I need it to do. The only reason I would upgrade is if my phone was lost or damaged beyond repair.

    It seems smart phones have reached a point where the features and abilities have plateaued. Augmented reality headsets are the next step, keep people from getting mowed down in crosswalks by traffic!

    The only problem is that out of control capitalism and the Venusian Oil Cartel has led to a runaway global warming on Venus, the locals there screwed the planet up before we could get to it. They should have used Solar Power, I hear it was quite efficient there. ;)

    There is a place that exists outside of the walls that confine both children and many Slashdoters, it's often refereed to as the outdoors. Despite the rumors and unverified reports, it is usually a safe place filled with wonders and opportunities. It has the useful side effect of creating real, lasting memories, and providing physical exercise. Perhaps utilizing this foreign environment would be advantageous, providing the end user with a hyper-real non-virtual world, allowing for greater physical and mental maturation before introducing devices that present the opportunity for in-app purchases.

  14. I'd say if the kids click on it, and it bills the parents... sounds like the kids just signed up for paper delivery route, lawn mowing, or whatever may instill a little more maturity. Sure the kids may not have known better, but what better way to teach a useful life lesson, not a punishment, just a way to learn how the real world works.

    The third party that allegedly cracked the phone may have not shared the means with the FBI, only performed the service and handed the phone back. If I had that kind of knowledge, I'd be changing uncle Sam through the nose every time I was asked to break into another phone.

    Commit crime with iphone in hand > Allow phone to be found as evidence > Sell services to unlock said device > PROFIT! ... nah... couldn't be THAT easy.

    Or, the Gov did crack it and discovered it contained noting of value, and realized they spent all that legal effort to gain "legal" access to a worthless device.

    It's been said that this was never really about the data on the phone, but an opportunity to establish a "legal" government backdoor into millions of devices. The NSA can probably crack it, but will hardly say so. This is all smoke and mirrors.

    Apple has lost it's advantage; Android phones are selling like hot cakes, Apple's use of proprietary connectors and technologies has alienated many current and potential customers. Apple smart phones and tablets are no longer cutting edge and novel. They created a bubble and now it is popping.
