Folks perhaps if you all knew the rest of this story you will understand some stuff.
First the Building was ran from the City. Next Microsoft did not rent the whole building. I know because I was the one who worked with the show promoter. This show was the Computer and Technoligies Showcase. This was not a 100% Microsoft event. They got a Theater Room inside the building where 45 other Computer Companys and two Computer Clubs were as well.
Next the first day there were less then 200 people and mostly at our 20'x40' booth we had. The Next day when we got there Microsoft had stuff out near the entrance. They had stuff out there to get attention. So then I went inside and asked the Promoter if we could also stand outside and hand out stuff and promote our booth being there as well. He said yes. So myself with 4 other members and Jon' Maddog' Hall went out side and we were handing out stuff to people comming in the building as well. After a frew minutes a guy from Microsoft comes out and says you can not hand out free stuff outside. Maddog replys why not what gives you guys the right and not us?? He says because we are paying for this. Maddog then says well we are here too and if you would like to go talk to the promoter of the Computer and Technologies show we can. He says yes cause you guys are handing out illegal Copies of disk and free Magazines which is against the law????
Well after 5 minutes they come outside with the promoter has asked hey just to make them shut up could you move down a few places we said No problem, then a Microsoft guy replies no only we can stand outside and do this ? So then he runs in and gets the building management and cries to them and they tell us we have to go inside.
Well if we wanted to push this issue we could we said ok cause we handed out 200 magazines in 15 minutes. JUst 20 minutes after this the Microsoft crowd came to get our stuff and now people inside the show besides our booth got attention.
We had every right being there. We did nothing wrong. Next this building is not private properity it is ran by the city and it publicly paid for by tax payers. We exercised rights and we did it with permission it is sad that Microsoft
could not handle the idea of some one else decided to promotere there presence and area as well. This was not a only Microsoft event.
Microsoft Technet guys were even comming down and hanging with us no war. We told people yes they have good products but so do we and we can match and beat them at some so there is otehr solutions.
So calm down and I say get the facts. To bashers who think we were wrong well considering we had our rights violated tells us what we did wrong...
Peace , if you love Microsoft enjoy if you Love Linux welcome to our community. To netural ones decide for your self.
See you later.
To the guy bashing Linux people at the show.
Listen up you weasle. Perhaps when you reach puberity you will realize this was at a City owned facility. Next the promoter told us we could stand outside and hand out stuff.
There is no law at publicly owned properity to hand out stuff as long as we did not block the enterance or stop traffic.
The way I know cause I was one of the guys who figured that since there were other outside handing out stuff we could as well. When I got permission to do so then we did.
Next We were also at the show in a 20x40 booth. So what you did not hear was we were asked to move cause Microsoft did not like people walking inot the theater room while they were showing off Office Xp and people had Linux Journals and Mandrake disk in hand.
Also Jon' Maddog' Hall who was a college professor was with us handing these out. I got Pics. Anyways we moved after Microsoft cried like babies to the promoter we moved 80 feet away from any signs of anything they had there so they would shut up.
Then they go to building management and then tell us we can not be out side the Pubicly owned building handing out stuff. So we went in and guess what again you little jerk... We got the people from their TechNet members in our booth gettting Linux stuff also pics of this.
So you see we were exercising our rigths in handing out stuff also to make sure people went inside and looked at not only our booth but 45 other companys who were also there who was getting no response until we did this..
So my advice to you is shut up unless you know the facts... Talking about busting a cap I wonder with your attitude how you made it to the age you are.
