OK. I see your point regarding the vernacular, however it was pretty much a precise dump of my thought at the time, and I regard slashdot as about as an informal setting as there is one.
In defense of the documentation.. I presume the 'find it out for yourself' was more or less intentional for the purposes of the tutorial. If they wanted to be more specific, they could just copy-and-paste from the real docs, if laziness is the excuse not to write something more about it. Finding things out for yourself is a good way to learn. The real docs are there if you need to know the specifics, and I think they're rather good. I don't really see the problem.
