Actually I live in Sydney, Australia, and WORK 9 - 5 for a living.
You obviously don't know anything about Anarchism.
Somalia is not Anarchism, it is CHAOS. They are not the same thing. Somalia has private property and a hell of a lot of outside influences. If you knew anything about the country other than your BLACK HAWK DOWN history, you'd know that the the Ethiopian State as well as other States are backing and supplying various factions and keeping the country unstable.
I'm not saying that under Anarchism there will be a Utopian Peace. What I am saying is that the institutional violence in the world today dwarfs any other violence. Perhaps not in your cushy part of the United States, but in the rest of the world...
But I suggest you rent BLACK HAWK DOWN again and pretend things are 'Black and White'(literally) and that the USA state is a good guy fighting for freedom and democracy! *cough*
If you don't believe in personal property then how can you make mine yours? It is non-sensical. Unless you are discriminating against me as an individual and giving yourself different rights...- but then you wouldn't be an anarchist would you! keep trying though;)
"... freedom without Socialism is privilege and injustice... Socialism without freedom is slavery and brutality". -Mikhail Bakunin
"You want to ban private property? Great! Let's start with you. Please post your real name and address."
- I own nothing but personal possessions - you'll note that I excempted them.
"The guy with the biggest gun will be in charge, and don't expect him to allow you to appeal to a judge."
-Hrmmm isn't the guy with the biggest gun (USA) already in charge? Didn't the USA just refuse to join the International Criminal Court?
Destroying the institution of Private Property is vital to the restoration of humanity. It might not seem like that, but if you think deeply enough, that's exactly what needs doing.
I read a lot of people saying how darn great Mac OSX is and how Win XP is quite good really and how everyone should give up Linux and buy a friggin' Mac. (like I can afford one!)
Well I think we can give Linux at least some credit for Mac coming over to the *nix side, and M$ picking up its game.
These are the results of COMPETITION!!!!
Linux doesn't have to be the best ever in all areas, but by being competitive and bringing in new ideas it improves the whole OS arena. If M$, Linux and OSX had a 1/3 market share each I think we'd see great developments in software, just as the development of hardware has been accelerated via intensive competition.
Abolish both Private property (bar personal possessions) and government. Industrial democracy. Rotating "leadership".
Delegates, NOT representatives...
To quote Monty Python:
DENNIS: I told you. We're an anarcho-syndicalist commune. We take it in turns to act as a sort of executive officer for the week,... ARTHUR:Yes. DENNIS:...but all the decisions of that officer have to be ratified at a special bi-weekly meeting... ARTHUR: Yes, I see. DENNIS:...by a simple majority in the case of purely internal affairs,... ARTHUR: Be quiet! DENNIS:...but by a two-thirds majority in the case of more major-- ARTHUR: Be quiet! I order you to be quiet! WOMAN: Order, eh? Who does he think he is? Heh. ARTHUR: I am your king! WOMAN: Well, I didn't vote for you. ARTHUR: You don't vote for kings. WOMAN: Well, how did you become King, then? GEORGE W BUSH: a whole lot of corporate money and some crooked judges.
As far as I'm concerned if the system is serving money, not people, then the system should be changed!
Besides even if you spend a life time buying shares you will NEVER have ANY POWER over the corporations. "Managed Fund" managers have all the shares and all the power. There is a elite class who control, the managed funds, the corporate boards, the CEO chairs and the political seats. See how easily they slide between the board chair and the ceo chair and the congressional chair.
What we are witnessing is the almost complete domination of politics by Capital. George Bush is nothing other than a figure head to major corporations. Unfortunetly it is tin-pot theories like the one you are espousing which pulls the wool over the public's eyes... but I not even the thickest wool, grown in the best economic faculties can cover the massive corruption and hypocracy forever...
I'm not a Palestinian. I'm of the Left, and I have no time for Sharon - But I don't just jump on the "underdog" bandwagon. The Palestinian leadership is an utter failure, and their Arab neighbours have only done them harm. Arafat doesn't want Peace. he just wants to March on Juresalem and drive the Jews into the sea before he dies. Saying that I don't think Sharon cares much for peace.
What is needed is some younger leaders with a little more investment in the furture, and a little less invested in the battles of the past.
Perhaps you should think a little more before you jump on the next lefty bandwagon that comes past. I certainly want no association with the current Palestinan regime.
I remember reading somewhere that a woman lived in an underground chamber (while writing a thesis) with no sense of time. She did move over to a 25 hour cycle. What's more she'd I think she worked at a single task for longer and would also sleep longer. Like 12.5 hours of the "cycle".
C'mon lets be serious now, only a very small portion of 80s music rawks. Most of it is utter tripe, only good for cringing (like you cringe when you see what clothes you used to wear back then!)
I'm just glad its over... perhaps if I'd been old enough to buy some cocaine i'd have fonder memories!
I'd forgotten they made a movie, until I got it out on video quite recently... and man was it bad!
It has to be one of the cheesiest, most terribly written, badly directed, acted and produced films I've ever seen. I'm a big Dr Who fan, but a bad movie is a bad movie. And that cheesy 80s music *shudder*
Look at France, previous world champsions who didn't have to qualify and bowed out without even scoring one goal!
France hadn't played a game "in anger" in the two years before the championship and were not battle hardened. Both Germany and Brasil had to struggle through to the finals, and I think this experience showed come the finals.
In Football (soccer) there is a big difference between a "star team" and a "team of stars". This World Cup really showed this. To make it to through you have to work as a tight unit. France, Argentina, Italy, and Portugal all possess top players, but they did not work well as a unit. S.Korea, Turkey, Ireland and even the USA don't possess top players, but they were cohesive teams.
As for the refereeing. It was apalling. Italy and Spain seem to have a pretty good case for bias. The probablity of so many match winning shonky decisions going in S.Korea's favour is pretty small. Makes you wonder if there wasn't some kind of directive from FIFA to help the co-hosts along. I hope not, but it makes you wonder. But having said that I thought the S. Korean team played brilliantly, and you can't take anything away from their effort, even if they were helped along by an invisible hand (linesman flag).
If you are going to have a chair like that you don't want to be cramped in a computer desk like you are disabled or something.
A chair like that deserves a huge wall sized screen and voice activated controls.
I'd place it in the middle of a room, take a seat and say things like:
"main screen turn on" or
"Make your time",
"make it so",
or even "Yes, we're gonna have to go right to.....ludicrous speed!"
"Page last modified January 1, 1970 GMT"
does have a certain coolness to it...
Does this mean I can't go outside and loot now?
Can 50+ be a Gnu?
This is patently false. Orwell was part of the POUM (socialists) in the Spanish Civil War!
This is WRONG, not INSIGHTFUL!
...people kill people. But a society full of guns is likely to have a high incidence of murder.
The motor vehicle didn't desert the inner city... but without it we would never have moved out into the suburbs.
Technology is political. Often in unintended, unforseen ways.
ermmm, hydrogen is the lightest element. I'd imagine it would dissipate pretty darn quickly.

Who makes more money for Sony, The hardware folks or the content distributor folks?
Or perhaps Sony realises that p2p isn't actually decreasing sales as the RIAA are screaming?

GEORGE W BUSH: a whole lot of corporate money and some crooked judges.
Too much economic theory, not enough reality.
You need to make a choice:
Do human beings serve the economy?
Does the economy serve human beings?

oh god, this could be so terrible!
I think that maybe we should all think of Jesus and pray all day. Yes that would be really useful and interesting...
