Hmm, since they want the most roboust distribution they chose Debian. If I was in that position I'd without any doubt chose FreeBSD instead... KDE is actually nicer in FreeBSD than in Linux. Two problems with using FreeBSD though.
1. No hype 2. No drivers
Debian is really nice, but I'm not sure it's the most roboust distribution. I think it's more about choosing something that sounds good, Debian is probably the most respected distribution.
Don't get me wrong though... But I'd really like to see more FreeBSD hype!

The most important thing Corel must bare in mind together with the rest of the community (Yes, Corel is a member of the community) is to make sure that WordPerfect is absolutely, ie 150%, compatible with KOffice and other suites that ships with Linux. Every file created by one Linux system should be readable for another system.
If all suits were using, say XML, for everything. Sooner or later all MsOffice users will understand that they need to use XML instead of Word8 Doc, and if that happens I feel that my functions on this planet is fulfilled, making me pretty obsolete *grin*
Yepp, still don't like the fact that applications doesn't compile because some strange functions that only exists in Linux... A minor example is that pthreads are linked with -lpthread in Linux and -pthread under FreeBSD...
My current problem is x11amp, it seems that you need OSS to use it. I use the FreeBSD sb driver.
Too bad most apps are made kinda linux specific so you need to wait for a port until you can download and compile... the ports system is wonderful though...
This PSX2 thingie is said to be pretty fast at 3d calculations. Perhaps one could buy one and use as calculator for stuff that a normal PC can't handle at the same performance/price rate =)
