Imagine orbital ISP's and servers. Who can claim jurisdiction over space? Its not as crazy as it sounds, just a few terabytes of solar powered hd and a couple satellites yields a nice remote 'data haven'. Earth is plenty f***ed, we might as well fill the heavens with spam and porn.
The term "never" is hardly impressive this early in the game.
I have read of a study in which mice were fed genetically modified food. These mice suffered liver ailments, among other things, and ultimately lived shorter lives than the control mice -- just one study, hardly conclusive. Yet, I would not want to eat GMO food at this point.
Unfortunately, I don't have the option. The Canadian government will not allow the labelling of GM food or even non-GM food. The government has taken away my right to choose. I will closely monitor research of GMO food. If there is ever compelling evidence that GM foods adversely affect health, I will file a class action lawsuit.
BTW, the assumption that "Biotech companies are doing great work" is dangerous. They are neither good nor evil. They are semi-conscious machines comprised of people that exist for profit. You can't read about curing blindness and assume they have the best interests of the human race at heart. Sometimes the work is beneficial, other times not -we must be vigilant either way.
