I'm not so sure that is a good idea. Look at what's happening to cell phones in the US. Each provider builds their own (incompatible with others) network. Think of what it means to install all that infrastructure. If there are 5 competiters each has to apply for a permit to tear up the street in front of your house and the total cost of all installed infrastructure goes up and is passed on. Not that I'm a fan of AOL!
