  1. A step closer to the brain as a quantum computer on Quantum Mechanics Involved In Photosynthesis · · Score: 2, Insightful

This research has science a step closer to showing that the brain functions as a quantum computer. Having a quantum computer in our head would explain why we're not like classical computers and have "intelligence", "free will" and "awareness."

Scientists who dismiss quantum processes at work in the body due heat and other quantum noise have little imagination to realize how exquisitely nature works on the molecular level to solve problems like these.

  2. Google finds answer to my lifelong afflection! on Google Used To Diagnose Disease · · Score: 1

After reading an article in the recent Wired about the 2.5% of the population that can't reconize faces, I googled my seemingly unique symptoms and quickly found the support website along with a downloadable copy of the book perfectly describing my problem. As I have never been properly diagnosed nor treated my whole life, this discovery 8 days ago is changing my life.

BTW my affliction which apparently affects 1.5% of heterosexual males, and probably a much greater percentage of ./ers, is love shyness - noted by a remarkable inability to get women. See love-shy.com .

  3. The implications of this discovery are incredible on Nanopore DNA Sequencing · · Score: 1

Being able to sequence DNA quickly is only one small technological benefit from this nanopore discovery. In the '70s the McKenna brothers in their book The Invisible Landscape postulated a similar mechanism in the post synaptic membrane of neurons. As virtually any technology that humans invented was invented previously by nature, I believe that this mechanism is there in neurons and that this discovery will propel research into this precise area. What we have with this nanopore discovery is conversion of DIGITAL DNA sequences into ANALOG electrical signals. Moreover this is a way for thought to be stored in DNA! As thought in our brains is electrical signals, we now have a mechanism demonstrating how instinctive behavior is passed on through DNA. I call it Meme Storage in DNA.
