My personal opinion is that people should stop trying to jump on the bandwaggon of accusation. Get your facts right, and stop trying to 'add your three pence worth' for the sake of it, its not big, its not clever, and it certainly does not help.
The real problem were the people who were wasting time, money and putting into question "why should we bother running irc servers?" by packeting.
