Well one story that I seem to remember was was how MS was sending trained people to ISP's to setup (and or convert to MediaPlayer) streaming servers for free. Something that RealNetworks was of course unable to finiancially do.
MS was yet again using it's monopoly money to conquer another little guy.
Forcing OEM's to dual boot machines with an 'OpenSource solution' hurts the OEM's by having to support that software. I don't see how that is quite fair.
We've been using TWiki for the past year at work, and it is an excellent way to collaborate on documenation. It makes it really easy for anyone to make an update, or correction, and allows people to recieve email updates when content changes. The search engine also makes it easy to get the information you need quickly.
You probably were not listening the lo interface. Just a hunch. I am no X expert, I suppose what your saying (that X does not inherently make calls to a network layer). Somehow if this has happened we all would have heard about this, as it would be a major development.
Agreed, that a Tivo does not give a better output picture than digital cabel. But -- I subscribe to BASIC cable for $11.25/month. IE FOX/ABC/NBC/CBS etc. I get 25 channels or something. With my 27 hour TiVo (on medium quality, added HD), I have so much programming I don't know what to do with it all.
I believe the big plus about digital cable is that it's has more variety at any given moment. But with TiVo, I know I have 32 programs that I like right now sitting there waiting for me anytime I want. I used to subscribe to digital cable, with the HBO package... it ran me $65 a month. Now my TV bill runs 22$ a month (tivo sub, and basic cable), this is all I really need.
My roommate, was making $150k+ a year as a contractor before the IT crash. Now, for the past year, he's been playing EQ every waking hour.
His car has recently been out of commision for the past month and a half. Only yesterday did he manage to remove himself to replace a dead battery in his car. Why? Because the newest installment of EverCrack came out. So he must drive to pick up a copy.
His sleeping schedule is so completely out of wack it's not even funny. He wakes up when I go to bed, goes to sleep when I get home. If its "Patch Day" you won't see him out of bed.
The PizzaHut sent him a special mail (addressed to HIM!). Probably containing the new Pizza Hut platinum card due to the amount of pizza's he buys. I was gone for 10 days, to return to 6 empty pizza boxes.
I end up taking care of all the house work, the bills etc... He's been known to wear the same clothes for over a week. Probably without showers.
He has about spent his savings. I've decided that it's time for me to go, maybe it will force him to do something with his life.
Galeon is far superior to IE. If it were available on Windows it would become the dominant browser there. It's just a better product.
Ok. So how about a radio button box that upon OS install / first boot. You get to choose the programs you want to use for a specific task?
Please select the web browser(s) you would like to install:
[ ] Mozilla
[ ] Internet Explorer
[ ] Opera
[ ] etc
And *POOF* you wake up!

Dont forget about MSNBC. No good software/internet company would be complete without a large media company!
