Well I could get a complete internet connection for $15 a month with a dial-up account. Unbreakable -> no one is complaining if their cable modem goes down for a while.
So you would suggest everyone pays $20 or so more a month to have access blocked? I'm sure AT&T has the ability to block or shut off access to people who are infected with the worm - thus eliminating the outgoing code red from their network.
Or the bad guys could just not use a computer - or they could use a laptop that they always keep with them in a locked briefcase which is handcuffed to their hand.
Then why is your Slashdot user number so high? Didn't the internet start around slashdot? Between reading the many moronic comments (including this one), pr0n and mp3's what else good is the internet?
TV is free for all - you can go setup an antenna and watch the local FREE channels all you want. But somewhere along the line if you want to get what directv offers you have to pay them for the investment they have made. Besides they also have to pay the channels to carry their signal - it's not as if directv gets HBO for free then sell it to you.
If they can't download any programs from external links - why didn't they install a firewall which won't let them? And more importantly how did this TopText get installed on their systems?
Forget OEM's....I still hate it when I install windows 98 and meaningfully click to not install "Online Services" and when windows finally starts up for the first time - baaam! 'Online Services' folder right there on the desktop. Of course MSN is sitting on the desktop as well. I guess you have to double-click to get to the AOL and AT&T crap.
Of course it really doesn't matter because it can be deleted just as easily as it is put there. I would guess that most people getting on the internet are going to use what their friends use or one of the 50 AOL cd's they have received in the last month or so.
Do you honestly think they will be paying full price for each of the processors?

That's also the reason you don't get phone calls from a computer with a recorded voice asking you to call other number anymore.
