First I heard there was a problem with their GPS - but it came back online - surely they have at least two other backups! - They could have borrowed my handheld GPS.
Then there was the aforementioned fuel problem. The aircraft is nothing much more than a flying fuel tank with a jet engine fitted.
Still a good achievement, but not as great as their previous attempts (e.g. hot air balloon) which I think required more skill to achieve.
DBDesigner4 looks great- I'm quite impressed by the UML-like modelling capabilities. I wonder if they wrote this part of the code from scratch or re-used another GPLed modelling tool as a starting point.
Interesting reviews, but... I for one am tired of seeing a new distribution every 6 months from Mandrake and RedHat.
My problem is upgrading - the distributions support it, but basically end up reinstalling the whole system. I'd rather they only came out with one major release per year, which was very stable and easily upgradeable.
I don't care if it doesn't ship with the latest and greatest KDE and kernel!
Aren't software teams all about role playing? The architect or senior members of the team will have a system-wide view.
But I think it's fair for new starters on a team (either for the company or graduate engineers) to be given tasks where they shouldn't have to think too much "outside the box".
In some cases this is beyond their experience or ability at that point.

I bet they are now wishing they used GET instead of POST.
I used to use WP for blogging, I'm quite dis-enchanted by all of this and will be switching to another piece of sw.
Shame because as a piece of OSS software it was pretty good, even got arstechnica's blog of the year.
I'll take option 1:
I'm a bit synical about this endavour.
