As a small domain registrar, I see all the time Verisign refusing to transfer domains for no obvious reason. Recently, just last week, a customer transferred five domains away from Verisign over to us (at BottomDollarDomains.com). We are an OpenSRS partner, by the way.
Well, three of the five domains transferred away with no problems. The last two domains were denied. After they denied these two transfers, we tried again. This time, they approved one, and denied the other.
What are they thinking? Why would they deny a transfer one week and approve it the next?
They are the ones that refuse to transfer domains, give horrible customer service, and charge way too much for the (lack of) service they provide.
I guess if I had to pay their phone bill (with 30 minute average wait times to speak to someone) then I would charge $35 for a domain registration too!
