HISTORICALLY "corporations" haven't existed long enough to compete with the power of governments. The institutionalization of corporate welfare is a direct result of the power of "business interests" over government. Anyone who says that corporatization isn't the problem is missing the point of the entire 19th and 20th century era of late capitalism.
