Yeah, I have to agree. If superhumanly intelligent synthetic organisms ever emerge, I agree that the future will be very bizarre but, I don't think it will be any better or any worse than it is now.

Think of any technical advance that has ever been made in the past. True, it created a future that was incomprehensible to people living before that advance but it make things worse? Did it make things better?
All we can really say that in solving old problems we create new ones. Things don't really get better or worse they just get different.
It is true that people living in tribal culture had no way of imagining the Internet or traffic congestion as a consequence of the emergance of agriculture. Our present is practically incomprehensible to people from these cultures. Yet can we really argue that things are better? We certainly can't argue that things are worse.
