I was into the smartdrugs scene back in the mid 1990s. I don't know why this is considered something new. This is as much of a new cultural trend as IRC.
To me, it's amusing to watch the unwashed masses playing catch-up, and claiming they are breaking new territory.
I have to agree with the AC on this one, if you are really trying a piece of software then you should enter an email addr.
I would agree, except that once you enter that email address the vendor usually sends you tons of unwanted email after. I would be more likely to cooperate with an email address request if I knew that the vendor would not spam me for 6 months, or sell their lists, etc..etc...
