  1. Paranoia can be a useful thing. on Linux is Not Red Hat · · Score: 1
Red Hat may very well be on the side of Good, but I believe that it is useful to engage in the suspicion and conspiracy theories. Microsoft is a dangerous enemy, and when it perpetrates its inevitable sinister machinations, it would be advantageous if the, errrr, rebel alliance had already forseen the possibility (as well as a thousand other equally mad scenarios) and was ready to react appropriately.

On the other hand, one must be careful not to let this sort of directed paranoia cause unecessary hard feelings.

Now, while I found the original comment to be ridiculous, I feel I should point out that there can still be effective government conspiracies despite the alleged idiocy of the average government employee. All it takes is intelligent, devious operatives in the right places. In fact, if I were a mastermind in a huge government conspiracy, I would make sure that the government hired lots of morons, so that the people would regard the government as inept, thus taking much possible scrutiny away from my actions.

I haven't been a moderator, so I don't know how it looks now, so this idea may already be in play, but....

Maybe the moderation input should be -1/0/+1, and then the moderator chooses a descriptor (Insightful etc) after a -1/+1 change.

I'm wondering why the original post, which
seems obviously off-topic to me, got a 3, while
your own got a -1. I think more appropriate
scores would be -1 for both, or perhaps -1 for
the original and 0 for your reply.

    P.S. Linux hooray, Windows boo.
