Aside from the power connectors being reversed, as noted previously, they say that they have a kernel and file system blown into a bootrom. The largest bootrom available was 64K. Unless you're a hell of a coder, there's no way to get a > 500K compressed kernel plus a web server, plus html into that size.
You can get a two user AIX 4.3 from IBM direct for $50. It's 3 cd's for the OS and a bonus pack with a bunch of software like db2, netscape (server and navigator), etc.
But if someone has your cell phone number to send you SMS, they can also call you. The pager is a good filter. Since they are unreliable at times, you can "not get" messages.:-)
It seems to be popular with people that send hundreds of thousands of messages. I think they have a free (beer) version for a limited number, but it's very expensive as you add users.
Techies won't necessarily become permanent suits. I'm about as technical as I can imagine, but even I have dressed up and played business to make a few dollars.
Like a wolf chewing it's leg off to get out of a trap, most techies will grudgingly dress up a bit to afford more Mt Dew and name-brand Mac and Cheese (yuck store brands).
They now use power units, you pay $15 per processor megahertz on CISC and $25 per processor megahertz on RISC. The license you described above would actually cost you $15,000. You were off by a bit...
I realize it's fashionable to dump on proprietary software, but at least get it right when you do.
Since they have put the pcmcia into the kernel, I built a 2.3.99 something kernel with the pcmcia drivers built in and passed hdc=noprobe hdd=noprobe so the kernel wouldn't see the hd until it was activated properly. That half-way worked a little bit.
I had win95 on mine. I really liked their pen input extensions. I'm currently writing a pen input method for X that uses a system of clicking and dragging on a small graphic divided into 9 sections. Have you gotten Linux to boot on yours yet? I've had no luck with the PCcard hard drive.
Even though it seems cool to use gobs of server-side java and huge application servers, a simple method like straight php or aolserver with low overhead will help out.
In Iowa, it seems that you can fill out some forms and then send a snail-mail letter to all of the other ILEC's and CLEC's stating that you are in business. Taking care of billing and order entry stuff looks like it will be pretty expensive to set up.
That's an apache wrapper to work around frontpage, not the actual source. If you fix the http to ftp, you can read the first file in the directory where it states that you need to first install the frontpage extensions.
We must have gotten a dud set. I'm running over 24 or 22 gauge copper a short enough distance to be heard if I yell really loud. At times we get 2k (yes, 2000) bytes/second. I believe they were XL1502 or similar. They are getting swapped out soon...
I also read in the aix newsgroup that they have changed their policy to allow unlimited use, so you can use smitty to increase the maxusers legally.
Pretty good fake, though.
A linux port is beginning at http://www.sjdjweis.com/linux/rs6k/, but there's very little there so far.
I think it's a neat idea. Go for it!

I'm experiencing deja vu.
I can't find it on their site, do you have a URL?

I didn't know they had set a date already, I thought they were still motioning and complaining.
I guess second isn't too bad.
Who would have thought slashdot would be one of the first potential court cases to test the DMCA :-)
Check photo.net. It's probably not as sophisticated as some you've seen but it's free software and represents a good start over starting from scratch.

I think that's his plan, funnel them straight down to Cedar Rapids.
The joke when he came in and switched the freshment to Ada was "How much does it cost to buy a computer science department.
Glad I got to take C...

If they are going to be accusative, keep it.
Considering how many times you see the boot screen in NT, that's a big missed opportunity!
It's similar to copyright messages printed by the driver. I'm willing to look at them as long as the software is getting written.
You've inspired me to make my own thing at http://www.sjdjweis.com/linux/730t/

On the first picture, look at how many kernel builds they've made, 2752!

I do have some bias, my wife is a kindergarten teacher.
