  1. Musicians have to fight tooth and nail to make a dollar off their music and then someone comes along and makes it even tougher to get a dollar out of the fat cats. If people on Slashdot don't see the correlation to American programmers being replaced by H1B visa workers then they really aren't paying attention.

You have to think like a teenager. A broke teenager, that is stuck on whatever plan their parents' signed them up for. It's probably a really cheap plan, since the parents really only bought their teenager a phone for the convenience of being able to summon their teenager whenever they wish. Said teenager probably listens to a bunch of indie music, perhaps using a service like SoundCloud, or just whatever they can find on YouTube. I'm trying not to be too specific but I think I'm aptly describing a fairly large demographic.

...Are the same people that are worried about going over their data limits on their mobile devices.

  4. I was idly flipping through teh Facebook because I had nothing better to do and I passed by a movie trailer (advertisement) that I wanted to watch. Well, halfway through the trailer an ad for a local car dealership was injected. So, now even the advertisements have advertisements!

Consider the possibility that the Amazon Fire tablet might have irreplaceable data on it or that the blender only requires a $5 part that's easily replaced by just about anyone at home.

  6. What about the cost of maintaining servers that are going to get bombarded on every single major release date? That can't be cheap. Customer satisfaction is going to be terrible when that server crashes too. You can bet that the motion picture companies are not going to be thrilled about giving out refunds to irate customers. They'd probably have to hire call centers full of staff just to handle the complaints and refunds. At least that's good for the economy, right?
